Effects of Seed Harvesting Time , Storage Condition and GA3 on Seed Germination and Bulblet Formation in Lilium hansonii

Abstract
The study was conducted to find out the effects of harvesting time, chilling duration, storage method and GA©ý treatment on seed germination and bulblet formation of seedlings in Lilium hansonii native to Ulreung island. Chilling treatment on immature seeds with capsule was very effective on seed germination and bulblet formation. The germinaton and bulblet formation rates were improved by extending chilling duration up to 8 weeks. The seeds with capsule kept in 5¡É refrigerator for 8 weeks resulted germination to 85.3%. However, chilling treatment longer than 8 weeks resulted in severe decay of immature seeds with capsule. In mature seeds, the methods and durations of chilling did not affect the germination and bulblet formation. Even without chilling treatments, seeds sown immediately after harvest showed 83% germination which were similar to those of chilling treated seeds. The effect of GA©ý on seed germination and bulblet formation not observed in both of immature and mature seeds.
